Joy Bateman, a native of Memphis, Tennessee, is gaining recognition nationally for her talent as an artist and a publisher. She has successfully produced two books; The Art of Dining in Memphis and The Art of Dining in New Orleans, and is now working on her third, The Art of Dining in Nashville.

Joy has also built a reputation as one of the region’s leaders in media sales. For the past twelve years she has served as senior account executive for Memphis Magazine. Prior to that, Joy spent 17 years as senior account executive with The Memphis Business Journal. Ken Neill, publisher of Memphis Magazine, describes Joy as “A legend in her

own time,” and despite current economic conditions, she has continued to produce unparalleled sales in both publishing and media.

Her parents, Joyce and Lester Gingold, have inspired Joy’s talent. Joyce Gingold is a nationally recognized sculptor and has taught art at St. Mary’s Episcopal School for forty years. Lester Gingold, has spent most of his career in media sales, and at age 89, currently publishes The Best Times, a magazine for seniors.

Joy is also especially proud of her three talented children and three grandchildren. Her daughter, Anna Wunderlich, is a mother and artist. Her eldest son, Brown Burch is a sou chef at Picholine in New York, William Bateman is a senior at The University of Tennessee , Knoxville.

When Joy is not selling, painting or writing, she is most often found babysitting grandchildren, Alex, Ben, and Bays. She also enjoys tennis and spending as much time as possible at the beach.
Joy is aware that she is living an incredible blessed life, and knows that she is proof, “with God all things are possible.” Matt. 19:26
